We are pleased to highlight a significant new publication from Capricorn, entitled UniFluVec influenza vector induces heterosubtypic protection in ferrets after intranasal administration despite high attenuation Science Open. This study explores the potential of the UniFluVec™ platform to confer protection against influenza virus of different subtype even when the vaccine is highly attenuated. Using the ferret model—a critical standard in influenza research—the authors demonstrate that a single high-dose intranasal immunization with the highly attenuated UniFluVectm virus was sufficient to confer protection against a heterologous seasonal influenza virus strain, eliminating the need for booster vaccination.
